  • Responsibilities

    The individual in this role works directly with and supervises a warehousing and/or transportation team of 25+/- employees. Key to one's success:

    • Ensuring a safe workplace -- Encouraging employee proficiency and involvement, addressing safety concerns, and modeling proper safe behaviors.
    • Fostering an engaged workforce -- Listening and responding to employee concerns, taking decisive action, recognizing excellent performance, and holding employees accountable.
    • Achieving shift quality goals -- Ensuring employees are properly trained, following proper procedures and performing requisite inspections.
    • Achieving shift productivity goals -- Establishing and communicating clear goals, providing resources, setting appropriate priorities, and monitoring progress.
    • Protecting and strengthening Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and acting consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork.

    Required Skills

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 2 years of prior Supervisory experience working in a complex transportation and/or warehousing environment. (includes internships)

     

    EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

    • Bachelor’s degree (Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Business Administration, or related field) strongly preferred; or,
    • Compensatory closely related work experience, in lieu of degree.

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Demonstrated ability to lead a team -- engage, train, coach, mentor, hold accountable
    • Strong safety orientation
    • Strategic, analytical problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 6S)
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Computer skills with a focus on Microsoft office applications; QAD experience (preferred)
    • Ability to work independently as well as coordinate activities across departments
    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation
