30725 Wastewater Operator A 6 Union City TN Wastewater Operator A 6 Obion County Plant Union City TN Job Description SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties including, but not limited to, operation of wastewater analysis laboratory, operation and maintenance of wastewater collection system, operation and maintenance of wastewater pre-treatment system, operation and maintenance of wastewater full treatment system or operation and maintenance of any other type of water or wastewater treatment system. Activities may include, but are not limited to: collectingsamples for analysis in accordance with EPA, state and/or health departments regulations, performing a variety of chemical analyses (both in and out of a laboratory setting), making system adjustments based on interpretation of results fromchemical analysis, making educated decisions on maintaining regulatory compliance, performing mathematical calculations utilizing basic algebraic formulas and a calculator, completing computerized reports, compiling information and correctly completing monthly reports as required by permits, local or state authorities, EPA, or corporate management, utilization of basic organizational skills, basic mechanical skills, basic electrical wiring skills, proper communication of current operational status to upper management, maintaining operations logs, performing minor to major maintenance on equipment, operation of a spotter tuck and/or a fork lift, physically lifting of heavy objects (50-75 pounds), climbing and/or descending stairs or ladders, grounds keeping, painting, general house keeping, working in unsanitary conditions, working with hazardous chemicals, obtaining/maintaining HAZ-MAT training, along with other duties as assigned by supervisor. REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience: 1 + years Wastewater experience (preferred) Computer Skills: Basic computer skills with knowledge in Word and Excel Communication Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical Certification: Must successfully complete a storm water training program selected by site management within thirty days. Candidates must also successfully complete "Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume I" and "Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume II" correspondence courses through California State University Sacramento within twelve months, and must obtain lowest grade certification program within twelve months or in accordance with State regulations Travel: 1 to 2 trips per year Supervisory Responsibilities: none Other Requirements: Successful candidate must have a valid drivers license, and will be required to obtain higher levels of certification and training up to Level C at this facility.
