Tasks Skilled position that performs scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to, Diesel trucks, trailers, vans and forklifts. Disassembles and overhauls motors, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, electrical systems and all other assemblies. Works with a high degree of independence. This position requires you have your own mechanical hand tools to perform the job. Position also requires a number of physical movements, including lifting, pinching, bending, reach, climbing and manipulating and handling objects. Working Conditionings include extreme hot and cold temperatures, dry and wet environment and loud noises. Diesel Mechanics lift heavy parts (up to 70 pounds) and tools, handle greasy and dirty parts, and stand or lie in awkward positions while making repairs. Trainees are expected to earn ASE T Series Certifications to move up to Diesel Mechanic Technician. Other duties assigned by the supervisor. Requirements Must be currently enrolled in a Diesel Vocational Program (proof of enrolment is required) Or One year experience working on internal combustible engines, (gasoline or diesel engines), hydraulics and airbrake systems Or one year of class room training on combustible engines from High School or a Technical College (proof of training is required with passing grade). Must have a valid driver's license.
