    ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ACCOUNTING

     

    The Department of Accountancy in the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position at the rank of assistant professor, to begin in fall 2021. This position will be a one-year contract position, that may be renewable. Approximately 3,000 students are enrolled in the Tobin College of Business – 2,400 undergraduates and over 700 graduate students. Together they represent 36 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and 75 foreign countries. The Tobin College of Business has AACSB accreditation.     The Department of Accountancy offers a BS in Accounting and MS degrees in the areas of Accounting; Taxation; and Risk and Financial Advisory. The Department offers AACSB accounting accredited programs and has strong relationships with major accounting firms.     Qualifications

    Candidates must demonstrate commitment to quality teaching, professional service, and scholarly activity. Competitive candidates for this position are expected to have a MS or PhD in accounting. Preference is given to candidates who hold a CPA certificate and/or other professional certifications. Teaching experience in the financial accounting, information systems, or data analytics area is preferred.

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Familiarity with routine operating procedures of equipment which can be set up and operated following a few step by step instructions and the skill to operate the equipment. 
    • Skill to perform minor clerical tasks incidental to the operation of the equipment (e.g., maintain machine operating and maintenance records, write new identification labels for computer tapes, etc.)
    • Skill to perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating the equipment
    • Ability to identify if improper machine operation and make basic adjustments
    • In depth knowledge of the mechanics and capabilities of insert machine
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Ability to understand written instructions, set-up the press, and carry out instructions
    • Frequent to understand written instructions, set-up the press, and carry out instructions
    • Communication skills both written and verbal
    • Ability to be flexible on hours during certain times of the year
