    OPPORTUNITY: We are a Foodservice cup forming manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our Kenton, Ohio team. We’re recruiting for multiple positions so be sure you review all of our job postings.  THIS JOB POSTING IS FOR A CUP PACKER WITH A PAY RATE OF $14.95/HOUR PLUS SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL AND PROGRESSIVE PAY INCREASES.

    JOB SUMMARY: Cup Packers will inspect product quality prior to packing sleeves of cups from the auto-bagger and placing them in the appropriate box. They will follow the production schedule and communicate with Cup Operators and Quality Line Inspectors as needed. Additionally, they will label, assemble and maintain cup box supply as well as maintain housekeeping duties and troubleshoot the auto-bagger as trained. They understand and align business operations and Cup Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

    WORK SCHEDULE: Night Shift 7:00 P.M. – 7:00 A.M. (either C or D shift)

    Must be willing and able to work NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS. OPPORTUNITIES TO MOVE TO DAY SHIFT SCHEDULE AVAILABLE!

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

    • WORK WITHIN AND ADHERE TO GPI’S CORE VALUES OF INTEGRITY, RESPECT, ACCOUNTABILITY, RELATIONSHIPS AND TEAMWORK.
    • PACKAGE CUPS FROM AUTO-BAGGER: PACKAGE CUP SLEEVES INTO PROPERLY LABELED BOXES WHILE INSPECTING FOR QUALITY.
    • CHECK QUALITY: Visually look through sleeve film to inspect cups for defects: rim defects, print defects, and contamination. Verify stack height is correct when placing cups in box.
    • MAINTAIN THE BOX SUPPLY AND COMMUNICATE WITH WAREHOUSE AS NEEDED (BOXER FUNCTION): Bring box bundles from drop point to packing station.   Confirm the box item number with the information on the spec sheet.
    • LABEL BOXES WHEN NECESSARY (BOXER FUNCTION, PACKER NEEDS TO KNOW HOW TO DO PERFORM THIS TASK): Retrieve labels and apply machine barcode sticker and large box label to each box prior to assembly. Number all boxes within the bundle. Start numbers over again at print changes and a half hour before shift change.
    • ASSEMBLE BOXES: After labeling boxes, construct one box at a time as needed.
    • CORRECT AUTO-BAGGER JAMS. Evaluate cause of jam and fix if possible by dislodging cups or bowls. If problem persists, notify Auto Bagger Utility.
    • COMMUNICATE WITH CUP OPERATORS AND QUALITY LINE INSPECTORS AS NEEDED: Communicate product defects to Cup Operators and notify Operators of case number at which roll changes occur. As Line Inspectors make their rounds, notify them of any problems that have occurred. If a defect has occurred, have the Inspector write a hold tag.
    • COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED PRODUCTION PAPERWORK: INCLUDING PRODUCTION REPORT (COMPLETED BY BOXER), PRINT CHANGE OVER CHECKLIST (COMPLETED BY BOTH BOXER AND PACKER), AND THE ORDER REPORT FORM (COMPLETED BY PACKER.)
    • SORT PULLED CUPS FOR DEFECTS: SET ASIDE ALL SAME PRINT CUPS PRODUCED AFTER THE DISCOVERY OF DEFECT(S). AS TIME ALLOWS, SORT THROUGH THE PULLED CUPS AND DISCARD ANY DEFECTS. PACKAGE GOOD CUPS. ALSO, HELP CO-WORKERS SORT THROUGH DEFECTIVE CUPS.
    • MAINTAIN HOUSEKEEPING DUTIES: Keep working area clean and organized. Once per shift, use the air hose to blow dust out from underneath the auto-bagger. Empty barrels by dumping defective cups into shredder where applicable.
    • SHIFT CHANGE COMMUNICATION: Communicate with break person, Line Inspector and the incoming or outgoing shift to stay aware of production issues.
    • RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSURING PRODUCTION OF PRODUCTS CONSISTENT WITH ESTABLISHED FOOD SAFETY, SANITATION AND QUALITY STANDARDS.
    • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

    • Manufacturing experience preferred.
    • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills along with an attention to detail.
    • Must be able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be able to maintain a positive team environment, be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.

    SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

    • The Cup Packer schedule is 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
    • Must be willing and able to work overtime

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
    • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
    • Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. for Packers; up to 20 lbs. for Boxers.
    • Push/pull up to 20 lb. (Boxer function)
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
    • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
    • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
