    Primary Purpose:

    At our Cleveland Service Center site, located in Cleveland, Ohio, we re-manufacture alternators for EVO, HDL and FDL locomotives. The Cleveland Center supplies alternators to locomotive manufacturing sites and repairs points across the globe. The site focuses on safe, efficient processes, while continuously driving out costs. The Winder A/VPI Dip Tank Operator is responsible for performing complete cycles of the VPI operation, grinding, baking of armatures/frames across multiple product lines effectively and efficiently. This role will report directly to the Supervisor.

    This is a 1st shift position with standard hours Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:00pm

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • This position requires the ability to operate the tank safely and correctly to prevent equipment or component damage. Servicing the equipment and communicating maintenance requirements for the equipment will be require. This includes the process ovens.
    • Assemble/Dis-assemble all plates for roll bake process.
    • Perform and record equipment Servicing activities as prescribed in the VPI Manufacturing Instructions.
    • Perform miscellaneous operations to aid the winding department as a Winder B, as instructed by the supervisor or work leader.
    • Perform complete cycles of the VPI operation, this may require the employee to delay breaks or lunch due to cycle completion routines. When this occurs, clear communication with your Supervisor is required.
    • Grinding.
    • Baking armatures/frames in ovens (load and unload).
    • Take resin samples.
    • Other duties as specified.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • At least 1 year in manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.
    • High School Diploma or GED.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Demonstrated work ethic with a focus on safety awareness and accident prevention.
    • Understanding of schematics, technical manuals, maintenance instructions, drawings, parts lists and prints
    • Ability to meet schedules and make recommendations that will help improve repair processes, quality and product reliability
    • Flexibility to perform all tasks required

    Physical Demands:

    • Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
    • Employee is regularly required to see and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
    • Employee is regularly required to wear steel toe shoes, safety glasses.
    • Position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.

    Work Environment:

    • The employee will normally work in a non-temperature-controlled environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

    Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is 27.98/hr.

    The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
