Scheduler - Products Valero Energy Corporation 1,059 reviews - San Antonio, TX 78249 Contract Schedules deliveries via barges, pipelines, and other distribution methods, issues movement orders, and maintains inventory positions for assigned areas by balancing market demand and sales with available supply. * Schedules product movements via barge, pipeline, truck, ship, or rail, and ensures correct type, quantity, and timing of the load/unload activity. * Communicates clearly with traders, refinery personnel, wholesale, terminal operators, and logistics operators to develop a schedule. * Nominates and supports actualizing and documenting movements in SAP. * Manages appropriate inventory positions that balance the existing market conditions, wholesale forecasts, production schedules, and logistics constraints to keep terminals adequately supplied and refineries balanced. * Proactively adjusts the schedule when conflicting objectives disrupt planned movements. * Understands contractual requirements and manages secondary costs to move products in the most cost efficient manner. * Accrues and tracks secondary costs accurately in SAP. * Provides guidance to less experienced Schedulers, and provides back-up support to other Schedulers, as needed. * Manages the impact scheduling has on a significant part of operations within the product supply chain. Qualifications * High school diploma or GED required. * Bachelors or higher level degree in industrial distribution, energy management, management, business, finance, accounting, math, marine, science, or engineering preferred. * 3 years of experience in refining or a related industry required. * Prior experience in at least one of the following roles preferred: Scheduling (Crude & Feedstocks, Products, Rail, Marine), Business Analysis (Crude & Feedstocks, Products, Allocation, Wholesale Pricing, Trading Risk, Transportation, Transfer Pricing, Wholesale, Commercial Logistics Contract), Trading Analysis, or Commercial Analysis.
