Vertex is seeking talented science and engineering students for internship positions within the Formulation Development group in Boston, MA. These opportunities will focus on various efforts to establish mechanistic links between the physical properties, processing conditions, and performance characteristics of components of pharmaceutical dosage forms. The research projects offer selected applicants established mentoring relationships, hands-on experience with various solid state characterization techniques and unit operations, and the opportunity to gain an understanding of key aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. Students pursuing both graduate and undergraduate degrees in disciplines such as chemical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, and pharmaceutical sciences are encouraged to apply. At the completion of the internship the intern will present his/her research work at a company-wide Poster Session. Minimum Qualifications - Completion of at least one year of undergraduate coursework and currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmaceutics, or closely related disciplines - Minimum 3.3 GPA - Excellent written and oral communications skills. - Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting expected deadlines. - Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating in Spring 2019 Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and use of common instrumentation - Experience with programming and analysis in MATLAB - Working knowledge of the principles of Design of Experiments and statistical analysis Company Information Vertex is a global biotechnology company that aims to discover, develop and commercialize innovative medicines so people with serious diseases can lead better lives.
