Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Boston) Inc. is seeking highly motivated, creative and innovative summer intern to join the Bioanalytics team. Our Methods Development laboratory provides a cutting-edge environment to learn assay development techniques and invaluable exposure to the role of bioanalysis and pharmacokinetics in pharmaceutical development. The summer intern will participate in research projects to investigate and optimize experimental conditions and develop state-of-art bioanalytical methods using modern instrumentation in support of pharmacokinetic assessment, a vital exercise that drives dose regimen design and safety/efficacy evaluation. The position requires fundamental knowledge in separation sciences and laboratory experience in wet chemistry lab conduct. Experience using analytical instrumentation is a plus. At the completion of the internship the intern will present his/her research work at a company-wide Poster Session. Minimum Qualifications - Candidate must be currently enrolled (and continuing in Spring 2019) in an undergraduate or graduate degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, or Pharmacology/Toxicology. - Good knowledge of techniques in chemistry or biochemistry lab - Strong ability to integrate, analyze and interpret results. - Works well independently and within a multidisciplinary team setting. Preferred Qualifications: - Basic lab handling in a wet chemistry or biochemistry lab such as use of balance, pipette, extraction device. - Basic knowledge in analytical instrumentation such as chromatography and mass spectrometry - Excellent written and oral communications skills - Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting expected deadlines - Strong work ethic Company Information Vertex is a global biotechnology company that aims to discover, develop and commercialize innovative medicines so people with serious diseases can lead better lives.
