Position Responsibilities: Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Boston) Inc. is seeking highly motivated, creative and innovative summer interns to join the Analytical Development team. Summer interns will participate in research projects focused on analytical chemistry and process analytics and control (for example, see reference below). Interns will have an opportunity to learn and conduct laboratory experiments in areas such as chromatography, mass spectrometry, real-time analytics and modeling. At the completion of the internship the intern will present his/her research work at a company-wide Poster Session. Minimum Qualifications - Candidate must be currently enrolled (and continuing in Spring 2019) in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a relevant scientific discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Physics). - Knowledge and enthusiasm for developing and implementing analytical methodologies. - Strong ability to integrate, analyze and interpret results. - Work well independently and within a multidisciplinary team setting. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Highly motivated and an excellent work ethic Preferred Qualifications: - Basic lab techniques needed for chemical analyses - Undergraduate research experience - Some experience operating laboratory instrumentation beyond that gained in general course-work (HPLC, IR, nmr, etc). - Excellent written and oral communications skills Company Information Vertex is a global biotechnology company that aims to discover, develop and commercialize innovative medicines so people with serious diseases can lead better lives.
