You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Materials Discovery and Characterization is a multidisciplinary group with a breadth and scope unique in the pharmaceutical industry, tasked with characterizing the properties of new chemical entities and identifying novel materials to enable their development into commercial drugs that can be used to treat serious diseases in patients. Review the seminal papers on a specific summer intern research proposal. Design and systematically execute experiments to test the hypothesis. During the intern ship you will learn to operate and interpret data from instruments such as HPLC, DSC, TGA, XRPD, etc. In addition, there may be opportunities to make materials via nano-milling and spray-drying. At the completion of the internship the intern will present his/her research work at a company-wide Poster Session. Minimum Qualifications - Currently pursuing Bachelor's degree or graduate degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical biology, Biophysics, Nanotechnology. - Minimum 3.3 GPA - Excellent written and oral communications skills. - Hands on lab work experience - Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting expected deadlines. - Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating in Spring 2019 Preferred Qualifications: - Project research experience is preferred. - Understanding of thermodynamics and physical chemistry. - Understanding of statistical analysis. - Highly motivated analytical thinker.
