27-Sep-2018 Auto req ID 87507BR Entity Volvo Construction Equipment Position Description Responsibilities / Main Tasks / Targets This intern's main responsibilities are to support the management of the Shippensburg Brand Shop and to increase the awareness and sales of merchandise through various marketing efforts. This includes day-to-day tasks and contributing to the long-term strategic plan of the store. Manage and execute the daily running of the brand shop by: * Maintaining inventory on the showroom floor and in the stock room * Ensure adequate display of merchandise on showroom floor * At least 1 of each size for all apparel, if available * Monitor inventory in stock room to appropriate levels based on daily foot traffic and specially scheduled trainings and tours * Place merchandise orders through the Volvo Group Merchandise Services (VGMS) system, working closely with their team * Promptly receive in orders from VGMS * Maintain visibility to Customer Center schedule for planning purposes * Create, print and apply all product labels to merchandise upon receipt to ensure pricing is correct and visible to customer * Work with VGMS to reconcile any inventory discrepancies and ensure our systems are accurate * Process customers at check-out while seeking feedback on merchandise to gain insight for future products * Create a positive customer experience * Greet each customer as they enter the store and ask if they are looking for anything in particular * Welcome their suggestions or feedback on existing merchandise and make notes of it for future reference * The customer should ALWAYS feel like your first priority. You should make yourself available to them for questions by standing up and/or walking around the store/restocking/straightening merchandise. Never be on your phone or computer when a customer is in the store * Creating POs/Invoices for merchandise * Become well-versed with the EBD system to create POs and receive invoices on a weekly basis * Custom Item Ordering * Help determine what products are needed to fill any product gaps and work with VGMS to have them produced and stocked * Reporting * Serve as liaison with Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) finance team to ensure all transactions and taxes are processed and reconciled properly * Provide monthly sales report to manager, analyze, and point out purchase trends or anomalies * Use creative thinking to determine best way to look at numbers and assess actions that could be taken to improve sales/inventory * Promotion * Generate ideas around how to promote merchandise to our internal customers (employees) and our external customers (dealers) * Miscellaneous * Take advantage of opportunities to assist with other duties, as needed, within the marketing department * Represent the Volvo Way and Volvo CE Shippensburg values to all customers and visitors Essential Skills and Required Experience For initial consideration, a candidate must meet the following criteria: Minimum Education Requirements * Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing a Business degree in Marketing or Management (preferably) at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship * Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 * Organizational skills are critical * Retail experience is preferred * Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint is needed * A minimum of 15 working hours per week is required Personal Competencies * Detail oriented * Customer Focus * Technical Skills * Peer Relationships * Integrity and Trust * Independent Work * Action Oriented * Adaptability Country United States Your role Intern - Volvo Brand Shop (Spring 2019) City/Town Shippensburg Functional Area Strategy & Brand About us The Volvo Group is one of the worlds leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, construction equipment and marine and industrial engines under the leading brands Volvo, Renault Trucks, Mack, UD Trucks, Eicher, SDLG, Terex Trucks, Prevost, Nova Bus, UD Bus, Sunwin Bus and Volvo Penta.
