    Job Description

    As Wafer Equipment Engineer:

    • You will be responsible to maintaining IBE and IBD Vaccum Equipment tool sets on a wafer manufacturing production line in a class 100 cleanroom environment,
    • You will provide leadership and direction to Maintenance technicians, 
    • You will maintain oversight of the production process and drive resolution of problems that arise.  
    • You will adapt to changes on the fly and pursue alternate paths, when necessary to achieve tool performance objectives.
    • You will be responsible for take initiative and collaborate effectively; flexibility, creative problem solving, exemplary communication skills and an ability to think on their feet. Candidates must be flexible to work extra hours including weekends as needed per the manufacturing wafer line requirements.

       

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ability to work individually, within a team and cross functional
    • Ability to communicate clearly in both written, presentation and verbal mediums
    • Ability to query databases, analyze and present data.
    • Ability to write procedures for maintenance staff to perform regular maintenance items.
    • Required to evaluate, select, order, and implement equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective per manufacturing requirements.
    • Own Equipment upgrades, installation, and modifications to increase process efficiency and comply with new technologies specifications and output capacity.
    • Maintain records of equipment performance, failures, upgrades, and safety issues.
    • Constantly study and evaluate the equipment performance and reliability.
    • Establish programs and implement solutions to increase uptime, reduce wafer scraps, improve the process capability and repeatability, and reduce cost of ownership.
    • Data collection and reporting of MTBF, MTTR and Availability on regular basis and create and follow to completion plans to improve tools performance (MTBF, MTTR and Availability).
    • Provide technical support to manufacturing for equipment repairs.
    • Support, Coordinate and Provide Technical training and certification to maintenance personnel.
    • Definition and implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
    • Planning and Controlling spare parts requirements.
    • Compiled documentation for: Equipment configuration, Troubleshooting guides.
    • Training of Maintenance staff in equipment related tasks
    • Writing of procedures and checklists for maintenance to use in the performance of their tasks
    • Analyze and design out equipment failures and deficiencies.
    • Review and recommend spare parts to be stocked and their stocking levels.
    • Proactively assist of Maintenance on tool issues that are more complex
    • Review, Analyze and react to Statistical Process Control Charts
    • Identify and drive resolution of problems that could impact output or quality
    • Monitor tool performance as needed and react to out-of-control situations 
    • Work with PE, Tool Owners and/or Maintenance teams to address tooling/process issues

    Qualifications

    PREFERED EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience in direct high volume manufacturing environment experience in magnetic recording head wafer processing equipment.
    • Candidate must have hand-on experience managing projects such as improving grid life, yield, and cycle time.
    • SPC experience with leading and lagging indicators from equipment and process outputs.
    • Experience in end point detection SEMs (Hiden SEM, JA Wollam Ellipsometer and other Mass spectrometry), Extensive Experience on Brooks wafer handlers (MAG7, VTR5, Aligners, VCE6 cassette elevators).

    REQUIRED:

    • Vacuum Technology theoretical and practical knowledge.
    • Leak detection by Helium mass spectrometry.
    • 5 years hands-on work experience with Veeco Vacuum Equipment; IBE (RF350, RF420) and IBD (IBDDS, DLC, IBDS) systems. 
    • Understanding of failure mechanisms, ability to isolate determine root cause and repair.   Effective team player including communicating with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Engineering and OEM vendors.
    • Experience with Solidworks and Autocad     
    • Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude. 
    • Knowledge in control systems, PLC (Process Logic Control), Raspberry, etc.
    • Communication skills and capacity to clearly communicate with peers, management, customers, and suppliers. 
    • Galil and Parker Motion Control
    • Devicenet communication
    • Project management experience.
    • Data Analysis / Computer Skills. 
    • Problem Solving. Logical thinking and root cause analysis capability. 
    • Positive working attitude and work ethics.
    • Effective time management following WD guidelines.
    • Knowledge 6 sigma methodology.
    • Experience with semiconductor process vacuum equipment.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BS of Science degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
    • Related Intern experience
    • Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude.
    • Data Analysis / Computer Skills.
    • Problem Solving. Logical thinking and root cause analysis capability.
