    Job Description

    We are looking for a self-driven and motivated team member to join the Wafer Yield and Failure Analysis group at the Great Oaks (San Jose, CA) Wafer Manufacturing site in the role of Wafer Failure Analysis Engineer.

    The HDD Wafer Manufacturing Engineering group focuses on ramping new recording head designs from the new product stage into High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) with high yields and quality. The Wafer Failure Analysis team plays a key role during both the volume ramp and eventually in the mature product sustaining state. The Wafer Failure Analysis Engineer is responsible for assessing in-line manufacturing failure modes, containing the incident, and driving root cause understanding with corresponding corrective actions.

    Job Responsibilities include:

    • Identifying failure modes in both the Wafer and backend processes, quickly assessing impact, defining containment, and driving to root cause understanding with corresponding corrective actions
    • Collaborating with cross-functional team members (Process Engineering, Development Engineering, Integration, Equipment Engineering, and Manufacturing Operations)
    • Working in a fast paced manufacturing environment with critical emphasis on meeting supply and quality targets.
    • Performing statistical analysis to aid in identifying root cause of failure modes
    • Utilizing 8D (Eight Disciplines) methodology for problem solving
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED

    • Masters or Bachelors of Science in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with graduation date between May 2023-June 2024
    • Experience in excelling at working in cross-functional teams
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience in excelling at problem solving methods

    PREFERRED

    • Knowledge and/or experience in semiconductor (or related) fabrication processes
    • Experience working in a semiconductor (or related) manufacturing environment
    • Course work in Engineering Statistics
    • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology, specifically 8D and DMAIC
    • Experience with QMF and Python
