Job Description

TEAM FUNCTION OVERVIEW: The Applications Engineering team, which is part of the HDD Product Management organization, supports customer qualification and adoption of products and solutions. In the day to day role, team members work closely with customers to explain the product, provide product samples, and resolve qualification issues, driving toward the successful completion of qualification and the start of revenue shipments.

• Responsible for Customer Qualifications of Enterprise HDDs
• Interlock with a Cross-Functional Team Including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, Sales and CTS to Promote Alignment with the Customer Qualification Strategy
• Partner with a Senior HDD Qualification Applications Engineer to
  • Prepare & Deliver Product Introduction/Concept/Design Reviews, Customer Spec Gap Analysis, Development Status Updates and Qualification Failure Analysis Reports
  • Coordinate the Customer Sample Plan Including Gathering of Requirements, Interlocking with Manufacturing and Delivery to the Customer
  • Manage Customer Communication & Qualification of Product Changes

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related fields and graduating between December 2020 and June 2021; open to MS candidates
• 0-3 years of experience in product management
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Problem solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; proficient in excel is required
• Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case in order to employ you (for example, H-1B or other employment-based immigration case)
