    Job Description

    Western Digital is looking for a Process Engineering Technician to support and impact our plating process, applying technical knowledge in an excellent opportunity to build wafer technology solutions right here in the Bay Area.

    Western Digital is an encouraging environment where you will work closely with the engineering and operations group and build upon your skills in an agile setting. 

    Here you will help develop new processes in expanding data storage and enterprise applications in our manufacturing and development focuses.

    *This position has two options of work schedule

    1. Sunday-Tuesday & alternating Wednesdays 7am-7:30pm
    2. Thursday-Saturday & alternating Wednesdays 7am-7:30pm

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Analyze and adjust organic/inorganic compounds in plating baths utilizing ICP-OES, HPLC, UV-VIS, Karl Fisher, Auto-Titrator, and CVS instrument.
    • Solid understanding of laboratory instruments operation and good trouble-shooting skills.
    • Identify, evaluate and assure plating bath formulation are within specifications before transferred to production
    • Proactively monitor, review, and communicate to ensure data are in compliance with Process Specification.  Promptly report any deviation to process owner and manager with supporting document.
    • Work independently or with crew members in a fast pace environment handling multiple requests, and prioritize tasks to complete in a timely manner—good customer service.
    • Provide technical leadership to Process and R&D Team in the areas of analytical chemistry and train junior staff member.
    • Provide general laboratory support such as scheduled routine tasks, instrument preventative maintenance; prepare standards, restocking chemical inventory, and good housekeeping to comply with EH&S regulations.

    REQUIRED:

    • BA/BS in Chemistry or related field of science
    • +2 yrs experience Analytical Laboratory (prefer area in wet-chemistry)
    • Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control)

    SKILLS:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication
