    Job Description

    FIELD APPLICATIONS ENGINEER: SAN JOSE, CA

    This individual will support a large hyperscale customer and interface internally with WD sales, customer technical management, engineering, marketing, and product teams. Will lead certain projects as they arise. Candidate will work with and learn processes related to multiple internal departments as well as be the customer voice. This role may require some travel.

    • Learn WD product lines and the product qualification process.
    • Hands on failure analysis
    • Join customer meetings and present program status.
    • Test WD products and provide inputs on improving the test tools and processes.

    Role: 

    • Provide leadership and personnel management for the FAE team as well as remove any roadblocks for the FAE teams to be successful in the sale and qualification of all drive products.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide personnel management support and leadership to the FAE teams.
    • Provide the customer and the technical teams with an escalation path on any issues.
    • Resolve all escalated customer or technical team issues, and communicate in a timely manner the resolution to the management team.
    • Attend customer technical meetings, as required, to maintain customer contact and to keep informed on the knowledge and proficiency of your technical teams.
    • Request training, new databases, enhanced processes, new tools, etc that allow maximum utilization of the existing resources. Remove any roadblocks for the FAE team.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with customers.
    • Communicate and rollup technical status for accounts you manage to the management team.
    • Provide Product Qualification support as required to regional customers.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Current student who graduated or will graduate between Dec 2021 - July 2022
    • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA
    • Strong technical skills
    • Strong customer focused skills
    • Experience in customer service
    • Familiarity with Linux operating system
    • Flexibility to travel
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong team-player who can collaborate with colleagues
    • Comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite
    • Formal project management skills a plus
