Job Description
As a Process Research & Design (R&D) Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with the Advanced R&D Process Engineering Team that specializes on developing process engineering solutions for use in Western Digital’s 3D NAND and other emerging non-volatile memory. In this position you will have the opportunity to work directly on new processes, including materials research, and developing new process integrations schemes.
The primary job function will focus on analyzing and processing data collected on semiconductor memory devices. Process development will include Research & Development on unique processes and materials. The work involves analyzing SEMs/TEMs, processing structural analysis data and many forms of process data from experimental splits using statistical analysis software.
The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline. This student will have some familiarity in data analysis, semiconductor fabrication and testing. Some academic knowledge of fundamental device physics and processing techniques that are used in the semiconductor industry (RIE, Lithography, Thin Films, Metrology etc.) so that they can solve process related issues are required for the role.
This individual must have proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment, be self-motivated and self-directed, and have demonstrated the ability to work well with people. A proven desire to work as a team member, both on the same team and outside of the team is critical. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite.
Additionally, the student will automatically be enrolled in the summer RAMP Program. This program is supplemental to the day-to-day intern responsibilities.
