    Job Description

    The Read/Write Channel Architecture is looking to hire a student intern pursuing an MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field. In this role, you will develop, simulate, and evaluate new architectural features and functions for a high technology digital signal processing chip that is used for recording and playback of digital information that resides  on  a  Hard Disk Drive.  In addition, you will work  with  suppliers  to  define  and  incorporate  these  new features/functions into next generation hardware.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Utilize modeled magnetic recording signal generation & read back detection algorithms (both synthetic and scope captures) to assess gains in signal-to-noise improvements for increased disk drive capacity
    • Ability to understand state-of-the-art signal processing algorithms for LDPC, Viterbi detectors, equalization, and modulation codes
    • Ability to proficiently write Matlab code for software proof-of-concept modeling
    • Ability to communicate concepts and results with technical leads and management effectively
    • Willing to work with team members in a proactive and productive manner
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • MS or PhD student focused in Electrical Engineering who is expected to graduate as early as December 2022
    • Working towards advanced degree in Electrical Engineering (MS or PhD)
    • Strong understanding of signal processing and information theory
    • Strong statistical analysis skills
    • Strong communication skills and good team player
    • Basic understanding of neural networks & machine learning is desirable
    • Basic understanding of magnetic recording and HDD’s is desirable
