    Job Description

    We are hiring an entry level engineer on our HAMR R&D Engineering team to begin and develop their career as a Engineer focused on machine learning. Ideal candidates will have recently earned or are pursuing a MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.

    In this role you will join a group of energetic and diverse engineers and scientists working on the most fun and challenging problem. Essential duties and responsibilities include:

    • Design, build, and maintain data analysis tools to forecast and draw causal inferences from large HDD datasets.
    • Utilize machine learning techniques to identify key failure mechanisms in energy-assisted recording HDDs, and devise strategies for improving overall reliability.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and acquire relevant datasets, and propose/implement new data collection procedures.
    • Develop user-friendly GUIs and applications for visualizing HDD datasets.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • University students who graduated or are graduating from May 2020 to December 2021 with an MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
    • Expertise in machine learning with deep learning algorithms and neural networks, optimization, probabilistic graphical models, and advanced statistics.
    • Understanding of data structures, data modeling, software architecture, libraries/packages, and GUIs.
    • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python and/or R.
    • Ability to collaborate and contribute within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain both theoretical and practical aspects of all analyses.
