    Job Description

    We are seeking a highly motivated, critical, and creative RESEARCH SCIENTIST to join the Transplant Genomics Inc. R&D group in Lee's Summit, MO. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, dynamic, and collaborative R&D team developing and innovating cutting-edge technology in biomarker transplant diagnostics.

    The primary function of this position will be to support development of innovative diagnostic solutions for transplant recipients.

    The ideal candidate will be able to support assay development and validation projects, have experience interfacing with cross- functional teams including bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, clinical and lab operations; and have experience in molecular biology methods for nucleic acid characterization and applications.

    ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to carefully plan, organize, coordinate and conduct multiple scientific research projects or diagnostic method development simultaneously
    • Ability to develop and follow research methodology and practice
    • Demonstrated experience leading, organizing, coordinating and conducting challenging, highly complex, scientific research projects or diagnostic method development simultaneously
    • Experience in nucleic acid sample preparation
    • Experience in development or optimization of nucleic acid technologies related to measuring gene expression, e.g. qPCR, dPCR and multiplex PCR
    • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety and corporate procedures
    • Strong background in molecular biology
    • Accurate pipetting and bench-level skills (i.e., pipette standard curves to within accurate limits stated in procedure manual)
    • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures for research projects or diagnostic method development
    • Goal oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
    • Keenly attentive to detail
    • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
    • High level of proficiency with PC based software programs
    • Willing to work with potentially infectious human blood and body fluids

    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • _ _BA/BS degree required with at least 6 years of laboratory research and/or clinical laboratory experience, focused on method development
    • Advanced degree preferred, MS with 4 years experience, PhD with 2 years experience
    • Ability to carefully plan, organize, coordinate and conduct multiple scientific research projects or diagnostic method development simultaneously
    • Ability to develop and follow research methodology and practice
    • Demonstrated experience leading, organizing, coordinating and conducting challenging, highly complex, scientific research projects or diagnostic method development simultaneously
    • Experience in nucleic acid sample preparation
    • Experience in development or optimization of nucleic acid technologies related to measuring gene expression, e.g. qPCR, dPCR and multiplex PCR
    • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
