    Job Description

    Our Western Digital High Volume BackEnd (BE) Hard Disk Drive Manufacturing is an industry recognized leading process thanks to the high-level of automation and efficiency for optimizing development resource deliverables and factory utilization. The successful candidate will join the Test Process Engineering BE Manufacturing Code Development organization to work with a team of highly qualified software and firmware architects and engineers to develop a common, flexible and abstracted test process from product inception through high volume manufacturing deployment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The candidate will participate in the design and implementation of Host Application software as well as Manufacturing Firmware features using an advanced highly innovative development environment and tools based on C++ and Python / TCL / Perl scripts
    • The candidate may participate in managing new firmware merges into the common code platform, and supporting continuous cross-functional integration and validation processes
    • This job role exposes a successful candidate to learn new technologies including Machine Learning, Secure Drive, NAND integration with HDD, Split Actuator, and other innovations where they have an opportunity to influence our future team direction
    • Successful candidates earn an opportunity to directly impact financial results through factory efficiency initiatives including examples of test time reduction, yield improvement, and capacity waterfall to name a few
    • This position requires the candidate to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product development and with factory teams to ensure a seamless transition to volume production
    • Domestic or international travel may be required
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • BS with 5+ years / MS with 3+ years / PhD with 1+ years of hands-on code development experience
    • A degree in EE, CE, or CS

    SKILLS:

    • The selected candidate should have good working knowledge of software and firmware Object Oriented programming and System Interlock design
    • Knowledge of the SAFe Development process with the capability to immediately contribute in a team environment is an advantage
    • Good demonstrated experience with team collaboration in a distributed code development environment is a solid requirement
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado or remote jobs that can be performed in Colorado.  This range may be modified in the future.
