    Job Description

    THIS POSITION CAN BE ROMOTE

    The Splunk Engineer serves as the expert in Splunk dashboard development and systems architecture, undertaking complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge.  The Splunk engineer makes decisions on complex or ambiguous issues, coordinating with users to determine requirements, and ensuring requirements are delivered.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • On-boarding new data sources into Splunk, analyzing the data for anomalies and trends, and building dashboards highlighting the key trends of the data
    • Create complex searches, data models, custom visualization dashboards, reports, and alerts.
    • Assist the cyber security team in developing security-focused content for Splunk, including creation of complex correlation logic and operational dashboards
    • Develop Splunk Use Cases, Dashboards, Alerts and Reports based on different sources of data, including databases
    • Managing Splunk premium apps ITSI and Enterprise Security
    • Knowledge of advanced Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL)
    • Experience creating and managing Splunk knowledge objects (field extractions, macros, event types, CIM, data models etc)
    • Experience integrating multiple data streams and feeds from networks, infrastructure services, mission/business applications into a near, real-time dashboard for use in troubleshooting.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
    • Experience utilizing both pre-built dashboards/add-ons within Splunk system and customized Splunk dashboards and search queries.

    REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in creating advance level Splunk dashboards and administering Splunk Enterprise/Enterprise Security
    • Extensive experience in creating and maintaining complex dashboards.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Scripting/ automation experience (Python, Shell, Bash, Ansible, etc.)

    PREFERRED:

    • Splunk Architect Certification/Splunk Enterprise Security Certification.
