    Job Description

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage cross-functional teams, focused on the delivering new or upgrading existing products, organizing cross-functional activities and priorities to ensure completion of the project.

    • Lead the efforts to drive production ramp-up readiness, coordinate with cross-functional team (program team, process, assembly, test etc.) to ensure manufacturing readiness.

    • Communicating frequently with internal and external stake holders regarding program status, pending action items, recent developments, and program needs.

    • The PM will work with the Product Management organization in development of the Marketing Requirements Documents (MRD). It is Product Management’s responsibility to generate the MRD document, however it is the PM’s responsibility to be aware of the market and competitive space and ensure that the MRD’s that are presented represent products that are competitive and compelling.

    • The PM should understand the Asian ODM, OEM, and CM landscape. The PM will be knowledgeable of the supply base and how business is engaged in with various suppliers. The PM must be capable of identifying and assessing capabilities of appropriate suppliers and negotiating with them in concert with the WDC Procurement organization.

    • The PM is responsible for converting the MRD into a PRD (Product Requirements Document) which is the engineering specification for the product which the supplier will deliver. This detailed product requirements document will become part of the delivery contract with the ODM.

    • The PM will have an internal development engineering team. All development will be accomplished by the ODM or OEM supplier. The PM will be responsible for working with the suppliers to ensure that the designs will meet the requirements and resolve all engineering issues working with the supplier development team.

    • The PM will be responsible for coordinating the product qualification, certification, and test plans. These plans include all activities accomplished by the ODM or OEM suppliers as well WDC’s internal certification organizations.

    • The PM will be responsible for bringing the ODM or OEM suppliers’ factory online in a manner consistent with WDC’s SQE organization. This includes ensuring that the suppliers manufacturing, test, and inspection plans are consistent with WDC’s requirements and that they will result in a high quality product that can be produced in-volume in a consistent manner.

    • The PM will be responsible for coordinating all program activities for the program. This includes coordinating the activities and managing a schedule for all internal and external functions. This includes, but is not limited to Engineering, Procurement, Product Line Management, Product Marketing, Supplier Quality, NPI, Certification, Quality Assurance, Publications, packaging, and distribution.

    • The PM must hold regular program status reviews. These reviews present the current status of the complete program including schedule, cost, issues and resolution plans. The PM will conduct formal program checkpoint reviews as part of the Phase Review process to formally transition from one phase to the next.

    REQUIRED:

    • A BS degree is required for this position, a MS is preferred. A degree in engineering (EE, ME or a related field) is preferred for this position
    • The candidate must have 7+ years of experience working in an engineering environment with at least 5 years Program Management experience. Product development experience with consumer products is a plus.
    • The candidate must have outstanding communication skills. Written and spoken language fluency in English is required.
    • This position may require significant travel, including some international travel

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Ability to work well in a high-pace dynamic environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure development task completion and deadlines are met as required
    • A Project Management Institute certification (PMP) is preferred for this position
    • Ability to present to all level of management / stakeholders on performance metrics 
    • Self-motivated and self-directed
    • Written and spoken language fluency in Mandarin is desired
