    Job Description

    Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, testing and releasing complex Object oriented software to support Process and Automation equipment.   

    This position is also responsible for training, mentoring and advising other SW engineers and SW technicians on Software design concepts, Software development environments and specific code developed. This also applies to personnel at other Western Digital worldwide manufacturing locations.  Some travel is required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work closely with other engineers to develop object oriented SW to support complex process equipment and automation systems
    • Provide modelling, simulations and testing to insure high quality Software is released for use
    • Review and continually improve departmental process and policies as it relates to SW development process
    • Develop SW design concepts and present to peers
    • Insure code comments are clear and accurate
    • Proves adequate documentation including flow charts and operation instructions as required
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
    • More than 3 years experience preferred

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience developing Software for Process equipment and Automation systems is preferred
    • Experience working together with Engineers in other disciplines such as Electrical Engineers and Mechanical Engineer on complex systems
    • Experience with firmware development  for 8bit and 32-bit ARM processors also a plus

    SKILLS

    • English proficiency
    • Project management experience
    • Proficient with C / Object oriented C++ software development
    • Microsoft Visual Studio development environment experience
    • Proficient in Java Class based object oriented software development
    • NetBeans integrated development environment experience
