We are seeking an experienced engineer to be a part of the Firmware Test Development Team.  The team's primary objective is to develop automated test scripts which validate HDD firmware against industry standards, customer specs, and internal features/functions.  The team works hand in hand with Firmware Development engineers and Firmware Validation engineers to define and enable testing for next generation WD drive products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with cross functional teams to identify, plan, and coordinate innovative ways to test firmware functionality
• Design and develop new test scripts to validate new WD Enterprise HDD firmware and hardware features
• Adapt test suites to changing customer/ firmware requirements, and future architectural needs
• Assist in failure analysis to help develop and improve firmware quality robustness
• Help develop and improve our internal processes to improve our efficiency and performance
• Participate in Scrum & Agile processes to plan, execute, and coordinate the team’s work
• Be part of the team to deliver next gen cutting-edge storage products with SAS, SATA and PCIe interfaces

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with strong embedded system focus.
• Proficient in scripting languages (Python, TCL) as well other code development languages (C, C++, etc).  
• Able to work in an Agile scrum team

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS DETAILS

• An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado or remote jobs that can be performed in Colorado.  This range may be modified in the future.
• You will also be eligible to participate in Western Digital's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan and to receive equity awards under our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs), pursuant to the terms of these programs.  RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
