Job Description
The Western Digital Fremont wafer fab is a world-class manufacturing and research center located in Fremont, California. Research activities focus on all aspects of information storage and storage architecture. We are inviting applications for a position in the Advanced Head Development organization, where our mission is to invent and develop technology for future products, such as Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR). This is an opportunity to work on a technology where magnetic, optical and plasmonic devices converge on a nanoscale.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
MS or PhD degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or a related engineering field is required
Candidates with an MS degree must have a minimum of five years experience in semiconductor and/or magnetic head wafer processing
Experience with systems and tool sets in Wafer Fab
Exposure to and understanding of wafer processes: lithography, thin film deposition, ion milling, reactive etching, electroplating, and CMP.
SKILLS:
Good understanding of wafer-level characterization techniques – SEM, FIB, TEM, AFM, optical metrology
Candidate must be innovative, detail-oriented and have good problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficiency in JMP or equivalent software is required.
Candidate must have good organizational and strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent teamwork and good people skills are required.
