    Job Description

    Western Digital is seeking a Commodity Manager responsible for developing and contributing to the sourcing strategies for the Memory & Storage category.

    You will be part of a holistic and impactful team, collaborating with cross-functional organizations and suppliers on sourcing engagement and strategy.

    The person in this position would be recognized as a sourcing expert for Technology-related categories, would liaison with legal, act as Procurement ambassador to the business and integrate into the business to ensure a complete alignment and deep understanding of the business goals. The position involves being an advisor to the business, driving execution of commercial agreements with suppliers, and developing/maintaining Western Digital's Memory Sourcing Strategy.  

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Advisor to the business - Expectation for this role is to use your experience and knowledge of the Memory components (DRAM, NAND, NOR Flash etc.) to be an advisor to the business.
    • Supplier Management – drive day to day supplier business activities, supply & pricing negotiations, and supplier performance reviews
    • Prepare for and host cross functional periodic Memory Commodity Council meetings and publish meeting summaries, drive actions
    • Drive execution of commercial agreements with suppliers
    • Develop and maintain Memory Sourcing Strategy
    • Prepare for and host cross functional Memory Commodity Council
    • Work closely with Engineering on new products
    • Influence cross functional groups in driving supplier selection and strategy implementation
    • Develop and refine should cost models
    • Prepare and publish quarterly updates to executives
    • Prepare and publish Supplier Scorecards and Dashboards
    • Maintain spend database and prepare quarterly spend and savings reports
    • Schedule and facilitate discussions between suppliers and technology teams as needed

    RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Work closely and build relationships with internal customers (engineering, quality & compliance) and other co-workers in Procurement and Supply Planning teams
    • Work closely and build strategic business relationships with supplier executives and account managers
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • BA or BS degree (required)
    • MBA or MS in related fields are preferred
    • 5-10 years of experience in semiconductor industry
    • 5-10 years of experience in procurement / supply chain
    • Have previous Memory experience.  HIGHLY seeking individuals with prior DRAM & Flash experience (market & technology)
    • Semiconductor process flow and unit operations understanding

    SKILLS:

    • Supplier management experience  
    • Market intelligence analysis skills
    • Initiative: The ability to be self-motivated and work independently and offer solid recommendations, based on balancing a data-driven approach and key stakeholder inputs
    • Ability to influence internal stakeholders and external suppliers
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Financial analysis for decision-making
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills
    • Requires knowledge in Excel and PowerPoint
