    We are seeking highly motivated students to be a part of our RAMP (Summer Co-Op) program. These paid summer internship opportunities are designed to jump start your career, offering on-the-job training and a robust summer of events.  As a RAMP participant, you'll work alongside technology industry professionals on real-world projects, giving you the tools and experience to get your career off the ground.  Additionally, Ramp participants will attend networking events, participate in workshops, and present to the WD leadership team.

    As a Firmware Validation intern, you will work with some of the best brains in the storage and drive industries. This strong and capable group enables quality firmware for Western Digital’s competitive and successful enterprise HDD products. This team’s work involves validation of firmware through shift-left testing and the design, development, and review of tools and scripts to measure and improve efficiency.  This opportunity will give you exposure to a wide range of topics and is highly cross-functional with the opportunity to learn beyond the team’s main focus.  This role is ideal for a motivated independent problem solver, with strong technical knowledge and communication skills.  

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the design, development, and support of new or existing Firmware Validation tools, scripts, and other initiatives for process improvement and resource optimization
    • Participate in design meetings, planning sessions, and reviews
    • Collaborate with internal and cross functional teams to derive innovative validation solutions
    • Document findings in bug tracking system, create and update web pages for sharing information, and create slides for communication of ideas
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Current student, pursuing a BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and graduating between December 2022 and June 2023
    • Minimum of 3.0 GPA
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong technical skills in area of study
    • Interest in HDD, flash, semiconductor, components, nonvolatile memory industry
    • Ability to evaluate and interpret complex engineering data generated by internal teams or external customers
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications 
    • Experience with real-time embedded system is a plus
    • Fluency with programming languages such as Java, C/C++ and understanding of databases is a plus

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS DETAILS

    • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
    • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado or remote jobs that can be performed in Colorado.  This range may be modified in the future.
    • If your position is non-exempt, you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws.  You may also be eligible for shift differential pay, depending on the shift to which you are assigned.
    • You will also be eligible to participate in Western Digital's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan and may be eligible to receive equity awards under our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs), pursuant to the terms of these programs.  RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
