Electronic and Electrical Subsystem, Actuators Engineer - Date: Jul 27, 2018 Location: Benton Harbor, MI, US, 49022 Company: Whirlpool Corporation - Job Description Actuators Engineer plays a key role as Component Global Owner and will work with EES Architecture, EES Subsystems and Platform teams to develop and integrate actuator solutions (solenoids, heaters, thermostats, motors, pumps, fans, etc.) into platforms to achieve attribute and product performance targets. In this role also will be responsible to develop and execute the Zero Base Plan (ZBP + Requirements Management/Complexity reduction) Worldwide along with Cost, Quality and Global sourcing strategy. Functions - Develop Zero Base Plan with the key stakeholders, manage the requirements in order to achieve the minimum modules and variances needed to cover all platform architectures; - Develop, communicate and keep governance of the component roadmap along with Platform roadmap; - Provide inputs to project planning to ensure clear deliverables/requirements, capital, budget, resourcing and timing; - Delivery of projects as per commitment to meet P2 plan, P4G and Quality targets; - Translate technical / sub-system targets into module / component target; - Drives component/module trade-offs to achieve optimum performance vs cost vs schedule; - Directly owns and contributes to actuator design elements and performance attributes including design for manufacturability; - EES Project management ARC01 & ARC06 documents, including FMEA, DVP&R, project schedule, risk mitigation plan, supplier coordination, components specification, Cost, Quality, etc. - Support / lead Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) to ensure actuator technology is delivering per requirements; - Reporting project status weekly (Project or Cost Tracking files). Andon system (Help) used to solve problems proactively, facilitate 5 why to capture the learnings and improve the process continuously; - At M6 complete the project delivery at a component level ensuring no open issues with any integration interfaces (FRACAS, GPA, UL/IEC certification, etc); - Accountable for the creation of libraries, capture and reuse of knowledge; - Participate in A0-A2 Process for advanced development projects which are run at a X-Platform level; - Perform and analyze component and product level tests to ensure deliverable targets are met, Execute and monitor testing activities and ensure they are completed as expected; - Support and help to define controls algorithm along with Algorithm, Hardware and Software Engineers; - Use proper tools to report problem-solving (A3), Concept selection (Pugh Matrix), Decisions taken (Decision Matrix), 6 Sigma Tools (Thought Map, Product Map, Process Map, etc), Requirements Management (ZBP) as needed. - Define, develop, monitor and report out Key Performance Indicators (Cost, Quality, Timing, Component Performance); Basic Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering - 2+ years experience participating and/or leading Mega/Major projects or technology development - 2+ years experience of following tools (or similar) FMEA (Failure modes and effects analysis), DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report), A3s; - 1+ years experience in project management, Preferred Requirements - Master Degree in Electrical/Electronic or similar; - Black Belt/Green Belt trained or certified / Opex tools knowledge and application; - Familiar with UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) /IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standard, preferred IEC 60335-1. - Presentation and communication skills; - Project Management certification (PMP); - Second language (Spanish, Mandarim, etc); - Ability to work cross-functionally and globally; - Google tools, like Sheets (functions, Plots / Graphs, etc); - Developed schedule, managed project activities, seeks alternative options/routes with proper trades off identified, risk management, etc; - Good communication and presentation skills; - At Whirlpool Corporation, we believe that all people matter.
