POSITION TITLE: Group Lead, Materials
PAY STATUS: Hourly

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct daily work assignments of material handling department
- Provides leadership to ensure effective communications, coordination, and collaboration within area of responsibility.
- Coordinate for daily improvement of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and 5S.
- Ability to perform all duties and functions of the material handler associates.
- Maintain 5S in all work area.
- Lead role during physical inventory
- Operates forklift and perform pre-operational check and maintains daily check sheet.
- Assign temporary associates to positions and ensure that they receive proper training per established training procedures. Perform periodic checks to ensure compliance with training. Give “working tour” of department on first day.
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed.
- Understand all processes in the department including use and care of equipment, machinery, audit procedures, customer/supplier relationships and one-piece part flow, etc.
- Assist and facilitate in problem solving activities with other associates.
- Work with outside departments to resolve production issues - part shortages, spec deviations, die/fixture failures, etc.
- Process timecards, override sheets and crosscharges.
- Stay for non-mandatory overtime as required meeting customer needs.
- Responsible for ensuring completion of departmental paperwork (scrap tickets, 5S, gamma sheets, overrides, training reports, etc.) as assigned by supervisor.
- Must be willing to work in any area as required by supervisor to meet customer demands.
- Provide timely written input for associate performances appraisals.
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment.
- Ensure materials are available for production.
- Complete all required training applicable to assigned position.
- Exhibit positivity, flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly required.
- Ability to stand 8 hours or as required by department production activities.
- Ability to lift maximum weight requirement per department specification.
- Must have good basic math skills.
- Ability to work overtime with little or no notice when necessary to meet customer needs.
- Must have demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to attend all scheduled training classes.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment to accomplish group goals.
