  • Responsibilities

    The Research Associate’s role is to conduct and analyze primary research to determine the attitudes and interests of consumers to help inform business decisions – representing the voice of the consumer within the agency. Research is used within the agency to understand consumer behavior, measure attitudes, gauge perceptions, and identify unmet needs. This role will be responsible for bringing together a variety of data sources to tell a clear and concise story by leveraging sources such as consumer research, general market data, industry or product knowledge, social intelligence, and more.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work closely with the Director of Research to propose, design and execute primary research across Zimmerman’s clients
    • Design surveys and qualitative research materials to meet research objectives
    • Lead efforts in survey programming, data analysis, open-end coding, interpretation of data and development of research deliverables
    • Recommend new research techniques or improvements to existing techniques
    • Conduct competitive research and trend analysis using syndicated resources like Mintel, Ibis World and Simmons
    • Qualitative research techniques – interviews, focus groups, ethnographies, mobile diaries, etc. – and comfortable moderating
    • Understanding of fundamentals in qualitative and quantitative research methods
    • Hands-on experience using a variety of quantitative and qualitative research
    • Demonstrate analysis techniques such as correlations, driver analysis, and multivariate analyses (such as cluster/segmentation analyses)
    • Programming and analyzing surveys in an online platform

    • Four-year college degree in market research, marketing, statistics, sociology, psychology, anthropology, or related field
    • 2-4 years of relevant experience in consumer insights, market research, consulting or similar role
    • Strong analytical skills with ability to perform in-depth data analysis
    • Demonstrates strength in visually representing data in an easy-to-digest format
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written/visual) to deliver compelling presentations
    • Demonstrates project management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting timelines and priorities as necessary
    • Interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, challenging work environment and a high level of responsiveness to others
    • Organizational skills, detail-oriented and able to follow-through on assigned tasks
    • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn and develop quickly
    • Experience using research tools such as Decipher, Displayr, and Netbase
    • Ability to problem solve with a mind to data integrity, including identifying and overcoming conflicting research or inaccurate data
    • Experience creating reports/visuals in PowerPoint, Keynote and Excel
    • Experience working on the supplier side
