We are currently looking for candidates for the 2019 Tax Winter Internship Program. **We are looking for candidates who are able to start in December 2018 or early January 2019. ** The Edelman Tax Internship position is designed to provide participants with a broad exposure to the tax function with an emphasis the analysis and computation of the impacts related to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Other elements of the role may include research, writing, and analysis of state, federal and international tax issues and obtaining a general understanding of the company's effective tax rate and legal entity structure. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities may include providing assistance in the following areas of tax (federal, state & international): * Assistance in gathering and documenting support for earnings and profits (E&P) and tax pools of the foreign subsidiaries under Internal Revenue Code Section 965, as amended, by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. * Assistance in the preparation of E&P calculation by legal entity for 70 plus controlled foreign corporations for the one-time toll charge under Section 965. * Analysis of various IRS Revenue Procedures related to Section 965 and summarizing the impacts for senior members of the tax department. * Assistance in supporting the quarterly and annual transfer pricing processes for which the team is responsible. * Research and analysis of the impacts of the Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income provisions (GILTI), the Foreign Derived Intangible Income (FDII), and the Base Erosion Anti-abuse Tax (BEAT) to Edelman. * Assist in effective tax rate modeling for the impacts of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to Edelman. * Assist in the year-end tax provision reporting process, as needed. In the tax intern role, the individual will also gain a working knowledge of the Company's internal financial management software and third-party software tools. The intern will have the opportunity to work with systems like Peoplesoft, HFM (Oracle), and ONESOURCE. This will allow the intern to learn about the systems and processes that are important to in a large multinational organization and should help his or her career in tax. QUALIFICATIONS: * Masters of Tax or JD students working towards their LLM in Taxation with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance. * Prior work experience, including a prior co-op or internship in accounting or tax, is preferred but not mandatory * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word (required) and PowerPoint (preferred) * Detail oriented and highly organized * Strong communication skills * Demonstrates competency in problem solving skills * Displays a positive attitude and willingness to learn * Ability to work both independently and within a team environment * Strong research, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills * Demonstrates the core values of excellence, curiosity, accountability, teamwork and innovation **Primary Location: **United States-Chicago **Work Locations: ** **Job: **Accounting and Finance **Organization: **Edelman **Schedule: **Full-time **Job Type: **Internship **Job Posting: **Nov 14, 2018, 11:37:09 PM
