    FMG is implementing and evaluating a federally funded COVID-19 public education campaign. This position will help evaluate the campaign implementation and measure the effectiveness of media dose.

    FMG seeks a highly experienced data or social scientist with expertise using Stata and/or R and experience in advanced time series analysis to conduct analyses of the effect of campaign dose on a variety of outcomes over time. This person will analyze the relationship between media campaign dose and campaign-relevant behavior.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Applying sophisticated principles in the fields of statistics, data science, and/or other social science disciplines to analyze time structured data generated from multiple campaign media streams, as well as survey, experimental and other data (e.g., multilevel analyses, time series analyses, predictive modelling).
    • Interpreting analysis to identify patterns and solutions.
    • Collecting, cleaning, and managing a variety of data from varied sources.
    • Preparing research reports, briefs, presentation decks, academic manuscripts, and other internal and external communications summarizing research methods, findings, and implications for marketing strategies and messaging.
    • Tailoring presentations and reports for a range of audiences from an array of scientific and non-scientific backgrounds.
    • Interacting with the project team on a day-to-day basis and working under tight deadlines to fulfill client requests.
    • Communicating effectively and professionally with stakeholders with varying ranges of research knowledge and experience.
    • Anticipating potential barriers to project completion, proposing solutions to team leadership.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduate degree in social science (e.g., communication, political science, economics), mathematics, statistics, engineering, data science/analytics, marketing, advertising, public health, or related field.
    • At least five years of professional research experience or graduate training in social sciences, such as marketing, advertising, public health, communications, political science, or economics.
    • Expertise in R, Stata, and SQL.
    • Experience working with time series data, and performing routine time series analysis, such as plotting time series; determining stationarity; evaluating dataset for seasonality; auto and partial correlation analysis; and fitting Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA), Error Correction, and/or Vector Autoregression (VAR) models.
    • Experience using statistical model to determine the suitability of a dataset for analysis, identify anomalies in data, aggregate data efficiently, and engineer features for analysis.
    • Experience working with large, complex, and nuanced datasets.
    • Ability to work well with others, as well as independently under minimal supervision.
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
    • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Applicants may be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ph.D. in social science (e.g., communication, political science, economics), mathematics, statistics, engineering, data science/analytics, marketing, advertising, public health, or related field.
    • Expertise in Bayesian Statistics.
    • Experience in at least one of the following statistical techniques including, but not limited to, experimental design, causal inference techniques, hierarchical linear modeling, duration modeling, and media attribution techniques.
    • Experience conducting health communications or marketing analytics research or evaluation.
    • Experience with data management for complex projects.
    • Knowledge of marketing metrics, marketing principles and terminology.
    • Experience in applied research as part of a government contract.
    • Experience working with government agencies such as FDA, CDC, CPSC, or HHS.
