    PATH’s Malaria Portfolio is seeking a full-time Impact Evaluation and Data Associate to join the Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases department. The Associate will work with various types of malaria data towards producing key analyses and visualization products to inform national malaria control and elimination strategies.  The ideal candidate should possess strong data skills and experience in malaria epidemiology, data analysis, and data visualization. The person will work with a range of datasets including epidemiological, entomological, program implementation, intervention coverage, and climate datasets to produce integrated analyses and data dashboards to inform decisions for malaria control and elimination.   

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    The person will be working on the integrated data analytics and visualization component of the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) VectorLink Project as well as the Malaria Control and Elimination Partnership in Africa (MACEPA) project. Responsibilities will include:

     

    • Conduct key stakeholder consultation regarding data use cases for malaria control strategy and planning. Establish and maintain routine communication with end users at national level to assess use cases and develop product ideas to serve end user needs. 
    • Access all relevant datasets for malaria control decision making in assigned project countries.
    • Prepare and enhance datasets for analysis and visualization.
    • Create interactive charts, maps, and infographics to summarize key indicators.
    • Create research reports and briefs designed to inform decision-making.
    • Plan and co-lead national data use workshops to build capacity in data access and use for decision-making.
    • Contribute to global dissemination of project learning and products including case study documents, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

     

    • Advanced degree in public health, GIS, epidemiology, or biostatics.
    • Experience in public health data management, analysis and visualization 
    • Strong data management and analysis skills using Excel (required), Alteryx (desired), and statistical packages (Stata, R).
    • Skills and experience with data visualization, including geospatial visualization.
    • Proven ability to collaborate and work effectively with colleagues, partner organizations, national and international stakeholders, local institutions, and personnel at all levels.
    • Excellent communication skills in English.
    • Ability to travel internationally, estimated at 20 percent

     

    Preferred candidates will have:

    • Experience working with global health organizations in LMICs.
    • Experience developing visualizations using Tableau or MS Power BI.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in malaria control including vector control (preferred), including knowledge of frameworks, global strategy guidance and policy documents, and key indicators.
    • Experience assessing use cases to drive data use for decision-making, preferably at national level in sub-Saharan Africa.
    • Experience developing data dashboards.
    • Experience with workshops/trainings to promote data use for policy and strategy.

     

    Must have legal authorization to reside and work in the U.S. or in the PATH Country Office location.

  • Qualifications

    J.D. or Masters degree in Higher Education or related field strongly preferred. 5-8 years experience in a diversity initiatives-focused role required. Strong verbal, writing, facilitation and presentation communication skills required.
