Category Marketing/Communications and Brand Management Description The National FFA Organization is seeking college students or recent college graduates pursuing degrees in journalism, public relations, telecommunications or a closely related field to share with the world the news and feature stories coming out of the 91st National FFA Convention & Expo Oct. 24-27, 2018, in Indianapolis. Newsroom Crew interns are expected to arrive on Monday, Oct. 22 and work through Saturday, Oct. 28. Your reward? A small stipend, inside access to an amazing event, coaching on how to become a better communicator and hopefully some awesome clips and experiences that will help you in the future. This internship may be eligible for college credit so ask your school's advisor. REPORTER More than 65,000 people from across the nation visited our convention and expo a year ago. Those people come to compete, come to be inspired, come to be honored and come to generally express their affinity of FFA affiliation. We need you to help tell their stories. Don't worry if you're not well-versed in FFA. We'll help with the background ? you help with the story! You may be published in any number of ways, ranging from our national magazine FFA New Horizons to our expansive online and social media outlets. Some ideas will be assigned, but we'll also need you to use your skills to network and find those organic stories that inevitably happen when that many people committed to our nation's future gather together. To join us in Indianapolis, please show us examples of strong writing and interviewing skills, demonstrate how you're not afraid to get a story and that you're able to work under deadline. RADIO REPORTER We need radio reporters who are comfortable behind a microphone. You'll work closely with the National Association of Farm Broadcasters to coordinate and record interviews with dignitaries, award winners and more. You'll have access to the stories of 65,000 people all gathered in one place. And your material may be distributed over national outlets, including SiriusXM Satellite Radio. You'll need editing experience, too, to help package your raw interviews. SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST More than two million people connected with FFA social media content during last year's convention and expo. We think four million people should be in that conversation in 2018. Can you help us get there with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram? These positions will require writing skills relevant to the social web, a seamless ability to pull and edit great photos, knowledge of best practices in constructing posts and a mind that can easily pull the most interesting parts from a mountain of content. We'll also need people who can shoot excellent ? and we mean excellent ? photos and video from mobile devices while around the convention and expo. We're not subtweeting anything here. If you love social media beyond just scanning Pinterest for new food tips and understand the difference between broadcasting and engaging, please apply. Show us how you've managed events on social media before. Tell us what we can do better. And show off the coolest content you've published to social media. DIGITAL VIDEO SPECIALIST Social media users may disagree on everything from politics to sports, but one thing has become clear: They love watching compelling video. This role will be tasked with delivering on that need by cutting and editing clips from the convention and expo broadcast for quick publishing to social media video hosting platforms. You'll need to have experience with video editing software, and you'll need a dose of creativity to help build a handful of highlight packages. Additionally, this role will gain experience in the process and production of live streaming various convention and expo events to audiences around the world. Position Requirements A few essentials: The newsroom crew is responsible for travel to and from Indianapolis. Hotel accommodations and most meals will be provided for the length of your stay. Although the internship is unpaid, a $300 stipend is provided. Interested candidates should attach a cover letter, a resume with relevant experience, and samples of your work relevant to the position you most want. Include links to relevant online profiles and please make this all one document.
