    Internship, Media and Public Relations (Summer 2018) (004667) Job Number: 004667 Job Title: Internship, Media and Public Relations (Summer 2018) Number of Openings: 1 Job Type (Employment Type): Internship Salary Interval: Per Hour Job Schedule: Part Time Job Category: Media & Public Relations Position Description The NYRR Media and Public Relations department crafts and executes the organizations media and public relations strategies and manages all PR initiatives on behalf of NYRR. The team works to gain visibility and appreciation for NYRRs brand image, flagship races, community events, youth programs, and instructional and training programs, all with the aim of helping and inspiring people through running. We are seeking a spring intern who is self-motivated with strong organizational skills and pays attention to detail. Job Responsibilities: Draft media materials including press releases, media alerts, media recaps, fact sheets, and identify topics in a variety of media outlet editorial calendars that are relevant to NYRR races, programs and initiatives Assist with press operations for NYRR events and races throughout the summer, including Global Running Day and the NYRR New York Mini 10K, as well as long-term planning for the TCS New York City Marathon Monitor NYRRs Online Media Center , managing content updates and uploading media materials Assist with posting NYRRs media coverage on the media Twitter handle ( @nyrrnews ) and continue to grow the teams social media footprint Assist in updating media contact lists Monitor and organize weekly press clippings, looking through NYRRs media monitoring database, as well as magazines and daily newspapers for NYRR and running industry news Serve as administrative contact for the media team including processing invoices, ordering Position Requirements Bachelor's degreeor in the process of earning a Bachelors degreefrom an accredited college in PR, communications, journalism or related field Minimum 1-3 years media experience, including internships Exceptional written and verbal communications skills; experience in writing press releases and pitch letters a plus Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical talent, and attention to detail Ability to meet and perform under tight deadlines, think clearly under pressure, and exercise good judgment Understanding of the digital environment including website content management systems and social media Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with Meltwater or other public relations software/services a plus Ability to work weekends as needed for race assistance Passion for NYRR and our mission
