    What you will do

    Johnson Controls (JCI) invites you to apply for a Three or Four-Term Semester-Based Co-op Program located in Milwaukee, WI. This co-op job is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives. This role will be part of our Milwaukee HVAC Branch where you will gain experience in the following four (4) different sectors: Controls Systems Engineering, Controls Installation and Management, Equipment Engineering and Project Management, and Construction/Owner Engineering Sales.

    How you will do it:

    • Work with experienced engineers to design, specify, bid, and install new construction projects
    • Learn about HVAC systems both in the office and building construction/renovation sites
    • Provide modifications to standard JCI designs to meet job specifications
    • Train and use JCI software tools and Microsoft Visio to estimate project costs or order materials
    • Read control drawings and design blueprints/specifications
    • Read and write software code
    • Learn how to install, inspect, commission, and troubleshoot systems
    • Generate controls and equipment submittals and request approval
    • Identify new customer leads
    • Generate proposals and understand Bid Day interactions with customers
    • Prepare sales presentations for contractors, building owners and consulting engineers

    What we look for

    Required Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
    • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Construction, Electrical or Computer Engineering
    • Attending school in the greater-Milwaukee area and available to work full-time for 40 hours/week during the summer break or semester as part of a structured university co-op rotation
    • Strong technical proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft products
    • Must be highly organized and must be a good communicator
    • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
    • Must embrace change and handle shifts in direction
    • Strong work initiative with the persistence to match
    • Must be highly motivated and driven
    • NOTE: THIS IS A THREE TO FOUR-TERM SEMESTER-BASED CO-OP PROGRAM THAT MAY EXTEND A TYPICAL 4-YEAR BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAM. CONSULT YOUR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY ADVISOR TO BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW THIS MAY IMPACT YOUR ACADEMIC SCHEDULE.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with JIRA or Microsoft Project
    • Basic understanding of Cloud Computing and IoT Devices
    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills required
    • Ability to work effectively in a highly energetic environment
    • Dedication to teamwork
    • The ideal candidate is currently a Sophomore (May 2021 Start), however Juniors (January 2021 Start), or Freshmen will also be considered
