  • Responsibilities

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    The Intern Firmware Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the development of firmware for the Tyco Security Product Software House brand of access control panels. These panels primarily consist of the iSTAR line of panels. As the iSTAR product migrates into a IoT environment, this position will be responsible for the adaptation of the firmware into modernized/open environments, plus relevant tools and testing of the iSTAR products.

    HOW YOU WILL DO IT:

    • Implement tools and enhance development environments.
    • Development of embedded Linux C/C++ i-MAX6/7, ARM Cortex based firmware.
    • Development of modular system build infrastructure.
    • This position will report to the Senior Manager, Firmware Engineering

    WHAT WE LOOK FOR

    Required Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled in a 4-year bachelor’s program or Graduate Student majoring in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering in the Westford, MA area.
    • Able to work full time in-person during semester breaks, and to work at least 20 hours per week in-person when school is in session (beginning Jan 2022).
    • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking and TLS communication.
    • Strong knowledge of JSON.
    • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented ANSI C++ development.
    • Experience with the Python scripting and testing.
    • Experience with MQTT is a plus.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment is required.
    • Good written and excellent verbal communication skills are required.
    • U.S. citizen or legally eligible to work in the U.S.
