    What you will do

    Johnson Controls invites you to apply for an internship located in Tarboro, NC. This internship is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives. You will be working under the direction of Jesse Gauvin - Continuous Improvement Manager, Kirk McRae - Quality Manager, or Sebastian Fernandez - Manufacturing Engineer Manager

    How you will do it

    • Timeframe will be a full-time summer 2024 internship (12 weeks).
    • Work / Support with manufacturing team to establish sequence of operations used in Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement processes.
    • Strong interaction with production / operations & quality departments to ensure performance and reliability.
    • Provide support and assistance to CI, Quality and Manufacturing team members, in the development of projects such as Kaizen events, development and implementation of 5s.
    • Contribute ideas to improve Visual Factory & increase productivity in specific assembly lines.
    • Design improvements in the process of material flow and transportation in the plant (carts, cabinets, etc.)

    What we look for

    Required

    • Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an ABET accredited U.S. college or university
    • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering

    Preferred

    • Pursuing a BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
    • Knowledge of lean production processes
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) preferred
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills

    This internship is part of NC State’s Rural Works! Program. The Rural Works! internship program supports NC State’s commitment to social, economic, and technological development across North Carolina by offering an engaging internship experience for high-caliber students who work with employers to achieve their workplace goals in rural counties.

    As part of the Rural Works! program, interns receive professional development coaching and support from the Rural Works! coordinator throughout their internship experience.
