The Position: AIP Publishing is looking for a Development Editor to join a new in-house ebook publishing team. The role supports internal and external stakeholders throughout the ebook development process. The Development Editor will need to: Provide administrative support to the Commissioning Editor through initial project assessment and shepherd through contracted agreement Ensure that the overall project is on track from an editorial perspective Work closely with the author during the origination phase, managing manuscripts & any ancillary materials and clearing permissions for the reuse of third-party material Evaluate manuscript as it develops, ensuring adherence to contracted content Edit and guide re-writing as necessary to meet required standards of style and language Consult with the Commissioning Editor on any development and preproduction issues Liaise with all key stakeholders in the publishing process, ensuring that the internal scheduling system accurately reflects the project status Job Location and Qualifications: This role will be based in AIP Publishings Long Island offices in New York and, as such, candidates must have the right to live and work in the United States. A Bachelors degree in the sciences, English, Communications, or Business Administration and/or the equivalent work experience which includes two to three years managing projects and working within a fast paced team Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Experience in book, media, or scholarly publishing and a familiarity with research publication in physics-related journals is desirable.
