Business Affairs Intern - SUMMER 2018 * Los Angeles, CA * Internship * Alfred Music * Student (College) Share Alfred Music, a world leading music publisher located in Van Nuys, California, is offering an internship in our Business Affairs department. Business Affairs handles transactional legal issues, licensing, permission, contracts, and complex copyright and trademark issues. Interns usually spend between 10-20 hours per week, depending upon what their school requires for the internship. Interns will be exposed to projects from Business Affairs and closely "shadow" the manager and team members from the Business Affairs department. Exact schedule of the internship is arranged between student and Business Affairs Manager, and will accommodate student's class schedule. We offer a casual dress but professional office environment where our mission is to help people learn, teach, and play music. This position is ideal for a student looking to explore the legal/licensing/permissions/copyrights side of the music industry as a career. This non-paid internship is offered every semester for Academic Credit or school's internship certificate programs only. The professionals at Alfred spend quality time with our interns in order to maximize their learning experience. No "errand-running" internships here! Instead, hands-on training in many areas of the department. Subject areas to be learned include (but are not limited to): * Learning how to research publisher information for third party songs. * Learning to research websites who are infringing on copyrights. * Learning to handle licensing royalty payments. * Student will participate in/observe Business Affairs/Royalties meetings. * Student will gain exposure to copyright, contract, and other Business Affairs issues. The student will use their knowledge of fundamental PC operations including Microsoft Word, Excel,Outlook, general music industry business concepts, and communication skills. Each resume will be reviewed and we will call student candidates to arrange interviews. Internship is granted based on student's demonstrated interest in the learning opportunity as outlined above and degree to which student's background, experiences, and educational path align with the learning opportunity. ** Please note, this Internship is appropriate for undergraduate students **
