    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    Vallen’s Quality and Safety Coordinator is an individual contributor responsible for cultivating environmental performance of their assigned AIW site.  This role supports managers ensuring the site is compliant with environment-related laws, standards and guidelines. Identifies, plans and initiates training need, for associates, site managers, and assist with overall compliance of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and The Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. The Quality and Safety Coordinator also ensures industrial machinery is maintain and repaired. The Quality and Safety Coordinator safeguards factory equipment and other industrial machinery, such as conveying systems, production machinery, and packaging equipment.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Leads by example and promotes a safety culture in which Heath, Safety and Environmental (HSE) excellence is achieved through associates involvement, participation, desire and acceptance.
    • Identify work place safety hazards and conditions for job-related tasks.
    • Maintain and implement compliance of site-specific safety policies.
    • Collaborates with managers, associates, and clients/customers in order to report on, raise awareness and gain commitment for HSE initiatives and performance.
    • Collects, analyses and reports on HSE performance, identifies problems and makes suggestions to avoid repeating the problem in the future.
    • Organize and conducts weekly, monthly and quarterly safety training for AIW personnel.
    • Lead and facilitate emergency response drills.
    • Recognize requirements and train to ensure compliance to safety programs and standards including: hazard communication, slip/trip/falls, fall protection, confined space, hot work, respiratory protection, lockout/tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, power & hand-held tools, electrical, emergency shower and eyewash, and chemical management.
    • Provide training for scaffolding, cranes, forklifts, boom & scissor lifts, lifting straps/slings, and fall protection equipment.
    • Assist the site maintenance team in planning and implementation of initiatives that maintain and improve the reliability, effectiveness and efficiency of equipment, and the technical infrastructure of facilities. Develop and implement equipment life cycle management procedures for optimizing costs and profitability.
    • Collaborates with the maintenance team on maintenance plans and recommends methods to improve reliability, ongoing maintenance and safety of equipment.
    • Responds to emergencies, break-downs, malfunctions and other operating problems to minimize disruption to business process.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

    Education requirement: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5+ years work experience in Industrial and/or Construction Safety Field or an Associates degree and a minimum of 7+ years work experience in Industrial and/or Construction Safety Field, Working in a quality department between 1-3 years

    • Experience in the field of Environmental Safety and Health.
    • Basic knowledge of ISO 9001.
    • Grounded knowledge in OSHA requirements.
    • Grounded knowledge in Incident Investigation techniques.
    • Must demonstrate manual dexterity, deftness and attention to detail.
    • Be able to communicate well verbally and written on multiple levels.
    • Be able to present in large crowds.
    • Great Multitasker
    • A self-starter with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
    • Demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner.
    • Strong planning, organizational, time management, problem solving and customer service skills.
    • Proficiency with MS-Office products (Excel, Word) and the technical aptitude to learn all company specific programs and software applications.
    • Possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution.

     

    TRAVEL: 25% 

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • The work environment maybe physically, chemically and temperature hazardous and unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, lighting, heat, layers of PPE.
    • Requires lifting, stooping, bending and stretching to accomplish assessment evaluations.
    • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
    • May be required to lift up to 60
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • May be required to handle hazardous materials and wear various forms of personal protective equipment (shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.). PPEs are necessary as there maybe exposure to both physical and chemical hazards.
