Job Summary The Data Center Services Technician will have front-line responsibility in supporting break fix activities, implementing project related requirements, executing planned maintenances, and responding to emergency events across Navisites facilities. Candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills while showing competency in ticketing systems, monitoring and alerting systems and other data center operation systems. The Data Center Services Technician will be comfortable being the first-responder to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues with client environments within the Navisite Data Center environment. Consistent with a 24 X 7 operations environment, this position needs to be available to respond to escalated issues. The ability to perform under pressure and utilize troubleshooting skills is a must. Must be able to interpret multi-device information spreadsheets and vendor installation specification documents. Must have knowledge of proper cable management policies and procedures. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong collaboration skills. The candidate must be a team player, with an inherent ability to work well under tight timelines, and have strong problem-solving capabilities. Major Duties and Responsibilites Capable of understanding and executing detailed Method of Procedures (MOPs) Provide prompt response to customer trouble tickets, requesting equipment reboots, circuit testing, etc. Ensure that facility problems are identified and repaired quickly and make sure all customer demands are being met. Perform routine and emergency service network cabling and rack and stack and power verification. Install, test, and terminate data/telecommunications cables, including Ethernet, Coax, and Fiber media. Install circuit cross-connect jumpers and test carrier circuits with customer or telecom carrier. Reboot servers and various devices, Load and unload tape libraries, Replace cabling at times from patch panel to server and/or to switch. Replace various hardware including memory, motherboards, NICs, batteries, disks, backplanes, fibercards, power supplies, fans and SFP modules Burn DVDs for ISO images, HP/Dell Smart Start and BIOS Upgrades Connect USB drives and configure drive letters and copy/backup data Replace/Reboot switch modules and re-cable Close out Incident tickets and customer Change Request tickets and Tasks. Perform occasional customer inventories of equipment components, power circuits, x-connects, etc. Receive, track and properly store customer package shipments Operate telecommunications test equipment and evaluate stress patterns on circuits. Maintain company specifications and company operating procedures libraries. Ensure escalation and emergency response to circuit and customer equipment troubles Maintain current versions of procedures and documentation on the Sharepoint portal With direction, OS level administration/troubleshooting (Tier 1.5) FSCK, Recover, Bluescreens, Last known Good, Boot orders, boot from disc. Configure OS, add IPs, check route tables and GW With direction, BIOS level configurations including ASR, DSR, Boot Order, Run Diagnostics, and Firmware Upgrades With direction, install and configure dedicated hosting blade servers Required Qualifications Ability to read, write, speak and understand English 3-5 years experience working in a Data Center environment performing essential job responsibilities listed above Familiarity with cable color coding and termination Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision Excellent written and verbal communication Possess good decision-making skills and strong customer service skills Ability to maintain clear and detail oriented documentation of processes and procedures Must be able to contribute and support 24x7x365 operation Education High School Diploma Working Conditions This position requires ability to work in a datacenter, electrical rooms and mechanical rooms.
