Program Overview: The Comcast Technology Internship Program is a summer program based at various Comcast locations throughout the greater US. The program is designed to identify high-caliber talent to build our organization with the best and the brightest students who come from a variety of sourcing channels, including on-campus career fairs, partner organizations, and direct applications. As an intern in the program, you would expect to work a 40 hour/week schedule over the course of 11 weeks throughout the summer. Additionally, your experience will include: -Engagement: Working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units at Comcast during your internship experience. -Exposure: An inside look into the day-to-day operations of an organization at the cutting edge of media and technology. -Professional development: You will be exposed to a variety of professional development topics facilitated through our partners at Comcast University and senior leaders within the organization. These sessions are inclusive of speaker series, skill-building workshops, and networking opportunities. -Mentorship: Mentoring from fellow colleagues through the Empowering Future Leaders Program (EFLP) to help you navigate your experience, provide coaching, and expand your professional network. -Fun: Continuously develop relationships with fellow interns through social activities, community building, and networking. Role Overview: HR Strategic Operations is the group dedicated to assisting in the planning, execution, and measurement of HR-oriented work within TPX. We are responsible for understanding TPX human capital and talent goals, how those goals translate into a slate of quarterly, annual, and multi-annual actionable objectives, and orienting both existing and not-yet existing projects toward achieving those objectives. The team partners heavily with the branches of COE who have purview over the TPX function, as well is with HR leaders, business leaders, and HRBPs to ensure work is prioritized and distributed appropriately. This role will specifically report into the Director of HR Analytics, who oversees HR data throughout the employee lifecycle for TPX. The primary function of the intern's role will be to aid in the sustainable sourcing and staging of TPX HR data as well as documentation of process for said sourcing and staging. Intern's duties include, but not limited to: -Data Validation: The gathering, comparison, and debugging of logic as it pertains to defining and creating sustainable feeds of data -Data Transformation: The act of changing the characteristics of a dataset to make it more well-equipped for analysis, reporting, and/or visualization. -Data Visualization: The process of creating tables, charts, and graphs from raw data -Process and Logic Documentation: The act of recording the steps taken during validation, transformation, reporting, or analysis to archive process and ensure repeatability -Requirement Gathering / Development Assessments: Working with stakeholders and/or partners to investigate efforts required before beginning a project or deliverable development -Report and Dashboard Design (as appropriate): The creative process of using knowledge about a user need to combine data transformation and visualization skills to create an end user deliverable (note: only if intern shows capacity will this work be granted semi-independently) Preferred Qualifications/Requirements: -Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree from a United States-based college or university -Majors: Computer Science, Information Science, Information Science and Technology (IST), Statistics/Applied Statistics, Business: Finance, Business: Accounting or a related field -3.0 GPA or higher -Excellent MS Excel skills; macro and visual basic skills a plus -Experience using MS PowerPoint -Familiarity with data transformation, visualization and data visualization tools (Tableau; Power BI; etc.) -Familiarity with MS Word and MS Outlook -Basic exposure to database reporting tools (Cognos; SAP; Success Factors; etc) and data transformation tools (e.g. SPSS Modeler; Alteryx) preferred -Beginner to intermediate code writing skills (SQL; R; Python; etc.) a plus -Able to operate where no processes or precedents have been set and must be comfortable using limited guidance and their judgement to achieve goals -Most if not all tasks will be centered around working data through the analytics lifecycle. Must be able to track their work, monitor for error, and check and recheck sources and transformations to ensure accuracy. -Must be able to think critically and ahead to logical next steps and have a strong sense of doing/trying/testing to reach results quickly rather than waiting for instruction. -Must be able to learn quickly -Must have a pre-existing desire to work with behavioral and characteristic-based data. This doesn't have to be HR, but must be based in a fundamental desire to analyze and understand people and populations through data. Demonstrates solid decision-making skills -Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving ability -Strong written and verbal communication skills -Ability to work independently and in group settings. -Strong interest in the technology, telecommunications, cable and media industries -Current and future authorization to work in the United States of America Core Responsibilities: - Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
