We're looking for a savvy, forward-thinking Contributing Startups Investing Editor to lead and expand our editorial coverage of early-stage investing, venture capital trends, and the startup ecosystem. You'll be at the helm of a fast-growing vertical focused on educating and informing readers—from retail investors and founders to VCs and operators—about the dynamics, risks, and opportunities in startup investing.
This role combines editorial expertise, a deep understanding of startup and venture finance, and a passion for storytelling that demystifies a complex and fast-evolving space.
Key Responsibilities
● Lead editorial strategy for startup investing content, including articles, newsletters, interviews, and deep dives.
● Assign, edit, and write engaging content covering topics like interesting startups raising funds, equity crowdfunding, seed stage trends, valuation methods, founder spotlights, investor interviews, and more.
● Collaborate with contributors, analysts, and industry experts to build a trusted editorial voice in the startup investing space.
● Commission timely news analysis and evergreen explainers that break down complex startup investing concepts for a broad audience.
● Ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance, particularly around SEC regulations, financial disclaimers, and conflict of interest policies.
● Track performance metrics and optimize content for SEO, engagement, and conversions (if part of a lead-gen or monetization model).
Qualifications
● 4–7+ years of editorial experience, ideally with a focus on business, finance, or startups.
● Demonstrated knowledge of startup investing, VC funding rounds, valuation methods, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Reg CF, Reg A+).
● A strong editing voice and ability to mentor writers and freelancers.
● Familiarity with financial publishing standards and content compliance.
● Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
● Bonus: experience building a content brand or vertical from scratch.
