    Volunteer Internship, Latin America Studies, Spring 2019 Department David Rockefeller Studies Program City New York State NY Overview CFRs volunteer internships give selected volunteer interns the opportunity to receive training in the area of foreign policy; as well as skills training in areas such as writing, research, and program planning. The Latin America program analyzes the dynamic relationships between the United States and the nations in the Western Hemisphere. Current projects address the causes and effects of widespread phenomena such as democratization, globalization, migration, and economic development on domestic politics, foreign relations, and transnational ties within the Western Hemisphere. CFR volunteer internships are unpaid, require a 16-21 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis. The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to): Research specific areas for blog posts, articles, and other publications, with focus on Latin America, and global supply chains Conduct research and write briefs and book summaries for fellows upcoming book Collect news articles from U.S. and Latin American newspapers for a weekly news roundup Provide logistical support to research associate and fellow as needed Attend general meetings as time permits Qualifications Undergraduate or graduate student with a concentration in International Relations, Economics, or Latin American Studies Fluency in Spanish (with an emphasis on reading) required, Portuguese fluency a plus Previous work/internship experience and/or journalism a plus Excellent computer skills, including database experience, Microsoft Office Suite, and internet research skills Strong research, proofreading, and editing skills About CFR Founded in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a leading nonprofit membership organization, research center, and publisher, with headquarters in New York, an office in Washington, DC, and programs nationwide.
