Volunteer Internship, International Economics, Economic History, Spring 2019 Department David Rockefeller Studies Program City New York State NY Overview CFRs volunteer internships give selected volunteer interns the opportunity to receive training in the area of foreign policy; as well as skills training in areas such as writing, research, and program planning. The Council has a volunteer internship available in the Studies Department. The volunteer intern will report to a fellow in the studies department and will assist the fellow with research, writing, and editing. The volunteer intern will gain firsthand experience with the tools scholars use to analyze economic policy questions. CFR volunteer internships are unpaid, require a 16-21 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis. The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to): Reading and synthesizing news articles, oral histories, biographies, and memoirs Writing profiles of leading figures in venture capital and proposing new angles for research Remaining up-to-date on developments in Silicon Valley venture capital, compiling periodic news briefs, and reading relevant columns Attending general Council meetings and other programs on foreign policy issues, as time permits Qualifications Undergraduate student with background in economics, political economy, history, sociology, or related field Experience in research, writing, and editing Demonstrated interest in historical research and/or journalism Strong Microsoft Office skills; citation management experience a plus About CFR Founded in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a leading nonprofit membership organization, research center, and publisher, with headquarters in New York, an office in Washington, DC, and programs nationwide.
