We leverage cloud technologies, on-demand self service designs, and an iterative development & research approaches in service to providing the most value possible. Disney Seattle is a large, flourishing tech-focused office, where teams develop internet applications and services for all of the major domestic and international businesses across Disney. The office is located in the heart of downtown Seattle, near convenient public transport hubs, easy access to ferries, buses, and situated across from the iconic Seattle library. -Responsibilities: -Understand the standards and practices across the team and development org. -Learn Engineering with modern practices (automated acceptance tests, team ownership, thin vertical slices, emergent design, etc) -Engineering solutions that are continuously available, and up to org quality & standards -Continue to improve software engineering skills -Communication/collaboration both in and out side of the team -Participating our overall engineering process -As needed: documentation, customer interaction -Learn about technical leadership -Basic Qualifications: -Javascript or Python -Basic SQL -Proactively identify and solve issues -Web application development -An understanding of data structures and algorothims -Driven to get work done in a timely fashion -Open to adaptating and learning -Preferred Qualifications: -Automated testing, ideally ATDD -Software Design and Architecture -User Experience Design -Multiple Programming Paradigms (OOP, Functional, Procedural, Aspect, etc) -Meta-programming -API integration and development -Understanding of operations and/or systems engineering -Vim/Emacs and Unix CLI -Agile, Lean, or Kanban -Required Education -Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program -Junior or Senior of Computer Science degree, Masters student, or equivalent achieved or in progress -Additional Information: -The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2019 - August/September 2019 -Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship -About Direct-to-Consumer and International: Comprised of Disneys international media businesses and the Companys various streaming services, the Direct-to-Consumer and International segment aligns technology, content and distribution platforms to expand the Companys global footprint and deliver world-class, personalized entertainment experiences to consumers around the world. This segment is responsible for The Walt Disney Companys direct-to-consumer businesses globally, including the ESPN+ sports streaming service, programmed in partnership with ESPN; the upcoming Disney-branded direct-to-consumer streaming service; and the Companys ownership stake in Hulu.
