We focus on using data that is collected from our digital platforms to improve experiences for our guests through personalization and analytics-based decision-making. The intern will work closely with our dynamic, interdisciplinary team of data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers. The intern will have opportunities to work on tasks in any of these disciplines, insofar as they are qualified to. Additionally, there will be chances to learn about the larger DTCI organization and The Walt Disney Company as a whole. -Responsibilities:During the course of the internship, the intern will be integrated into the Data Engineering team as a member, appointed a mentor, and provided research, troubleshooting, and development tasks. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: -Data discovery and exploration tasks -Developing and supporting machine learning models -Participating in data validation efforts -Creating extract, transform, and load (ETL) jobs -Providing help with building reports and real-time dashboards -Assisting with the maintenance and evolution of the data platform -Basic Qualifications: -Experience working with any of the following: SQL, Python, Linux, ETL, Scala, Java -A passion for data and technology -The ability to effectively communicate technical ideas to both technical and non-technical clients -Preferred Qualifications: -Previous internship experience within a related technical field -A working knowledge of statistics -Previous experience in entertainment -Required Education -Junior or Senior undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate (within 6 months of graduation) -Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher -Additional Information: -All students must be eligible to work in the US -All students must be at least 18 years old -You must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class OR be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program in order to qualify for this internship. -Must be available to work May-August 2019 or June-September 2019 -All students must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
